it's a friday night and everyone is out partying as usual, well, everyone except me. mainly because i do not want to take at least 1.5 hours to go to a party and take 2 hours ride back home. it's just not worth it.

i've officially been here for a month and all i can say that it is really not quite what i expected. firstly, in terms of customer service in the bank, it's really awesome. opening a bank account here is so different from opening one in singapore. in singapore, you just fill up a form at the counter and they'll do it for you. but over here, you'll have to make an appointment, then the whole discussion about which type of bank account, online banking, credit cards, etc will be done in the office. and after which, if you have any problems, you'll only have to contact the person that served you instead of the customer service hotline, then get transferred 23894738 times before you get an answer, or maybe not even an answer.

but studying here is really different. so far, it's been a breeze, unlike friends in nus and ntu. residence life is okay, can be rather annoying and fun at times. as much as i would want to move out next year, i actually would still want to stay here for convenience's sake.

people here are generally okay. but i've got to say it for the one last time. I AM NOT FROM CHINA! omg. people have been asking if i went to a BRITISH INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL IN CHINA!?!?!?! because of the whole 'having-a-british-accent' thing. even my physics lab partner tells me that! seriously, you've got to be kidding. and they even said that it's cool coz i sound more sophisticated in my british accent than them in their american accent. well, haha?

but it's been rather old-school and old-fashioned here. the oven that we use is the one under the stove which i do not quite know how to operate. and for labs, our weighing scale is a triple beam balance?!?!?! like wth, i've never even seen one in my life. so far, i only know that the weighing scale that i am used to has a on/off button with the tare button, never did i know that a triple beam balance exist! but anyway, i wasn't the one reading it, so it doesn't matter. that's what lab partners are for right? i mean they cannot read the vernier calipers, so i do all the readings for it. which is rather queer because we've been using vernier calipers since sec 1 and yet people here do not know how to use it. what have they been doing in school?

things here are taught at a rather slow speed and it gets so bored at times during the lectures. well, i'm determined to be in the dean's list, at least for this whole academic year. i was just telling my bro that it doesn't matter even if he has not studied for 2 years because the pace here is really slow. it crawls.

life has been pretty boring so far. i wake up at 7am every morning, rain or shine, school or no school. then i'll take a shower, freshen up, have breakfast cum skype, do a little bit of make up then off to class. come back from class, eat, relax a little, off to dance/gym, come back, dinner, at night, read textbook, do notes, etc and sleep. it's been a daily routine. bien sur, i do go out to have meals and buy stuff. i'm going to fairview tmr to see if i can find a pair of white sneakers for lab and intern. and maybe get another pair of sneakers for everyday wear since the weather is getting cold and i do not want to be wearing my track shoes all the time.

the fact that i bother to blog today shows how much free time i have in my hands. well, i do have hw and readings to do, but i'm tired. so i would just rest a little more, dry my hair and off to sleep.

on a random note, i dreamt about ah gong last night again. it's a pretty funny dream actually. sometimes i can't believe that he has been gone for so long. sometimes it feels that nothing of this has happened. oh wells. this is probably how i felt about gu che. she's been gone for more than 2 years now, and i'm actually wearing some of her clothes now, i mean winter clothes, which reminded me of her. it's been 2 years and counting. i wonder how they are doing now. where do we go after we have closed our eyes permanently? when i went back to kk in july, it still seem pretty surreal. like for the past 18 years, the first thing that i do when i enter the house is to call ah gong. but now, even when you say it, there's no reply anymore.
